Woodland and Hedges
The established hedges around The Wildings have a variety of native species including field maple, ash, crab apple, rowan, blackthorn, hawthorn, dog rose and oak.
Here at The Wildings, we believe that planting trees is one of the more important things we can do to support wildlife long term. We have planted approximately 1.5 acres of new woodland, including silver birch, downy birch, hazel, crab apple, rowan, goat willow, hawthorn, alder, hornbeam, dogwood and dog rose. This young woodland is tucked into the south west corner of the land, which will also help protect livestock from the prevailing wind once it is established.
The northern border of the woodland is straight, but the eastern border is curved to provide additional visual interest, and more natural line and more shelter options for animals in the future.
